vArmour DSS integration with Cisco ACI delivers granular visibility, control and threat detection for virtual and cloud environments with application-layer controls and advanced security analytics
vArmour, the data centre and cloud security company, announced (March 9th 2016) it is working with Cisco to integrate advanced security and analytics with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI).
By 2019, more than 86 percent of workloads will be processed by cloud data centres, according to the Cisco Global Cloud Index (2015). The move to programmable cloud infrastructure offers organizations the opportunity to transform their security architectures to be more agile and efficient by building security into the data centre network.
vArmour DSS Distributed Security System provides application-layer visibility and controls with advanced security analytics. Cisco ACI and the APIC SDN controller use an application-based policy model to simplify IT security tasks, accelerating application deployment. Together, the two products enable security and networking teams to visualize all traffic in their data centre at the application layer, detect anomalous behaviors, and quarantine non-compliant workloads and advanced persistent threats.
“vArmour, integrating with Cisco ACI, will help our customers gain application visibility and threat detection built into workloads deployed on Cisco ACI fabric,” said Ish Limkakeng, vice president of product marketing at Cisco. “With automated, software-based security controls, customers can see and respond to threats faster while simplifying compliance and reducing costs.”
According to Greg Young and Neil MacDonald at Gartner, “Software-defined segmentation is an approach that reduces the risk of a lateral spread of advanced attacks in enterprise data centres and enables enterprises to enforce consistent segmentation policies across on-premises and cloud-based workloads. For some specific scenarios like PCI reduction of scope, software-defined segmentation can be used to avoid costly network reconfiguration.”
“Cisco ACI is a revolutionary approach to networking,” said Keith Stewart, vice president of business development at vArmour. “The combination of vArmour’s application-layer visibility and control with Cisco ACI’s programmable infrastructure delivers the most secure application policy control and threat analytics solution in the market today.”
