I-BIT is proud to be sponsoring three members of the Worldpay team, who are taking part in a gruelling charity challenge. Worldpay colleagues Dave Boardman, Nicky Stanton and Tom McKirdy are cycling from Land’s End to John of Groats — a distance of around 1000 miles — to raise money for two charities.
Worldpay are a valued and long-standing customer of I-BIT, and we were delighted to sponsor this very worthwhile event. The team will be cycling wearing kit branded with the I-BIT logo and colour scheme — so stay tuned for photos!
The event will take place over 13 days, with the team covering an average of 80 miles a day. Starting at Land’s End on the south-westerly tip of England, the cyclists will make their way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border. They will then skirt the Lake District into Scotland, finally heading onto John O’Groats. A test of physical and psychological toughness, the ride traverses some of the most stunning and remote countryside in the British Isles.
The team are raising money for two charities, The Princes Trust and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust:
- The Princes Trust is Worldpay’s designated charity for 2017. The trust is the UK’s leading charity for disadvantaged young people, transforming lives through a variety of measures. The trust also provides a superb range of training programmes, mentoring support and financial grants for new businesses.
- The Cystic Fibrosis Trust was a personal choice for the team, as a family member suffers from the condition. Cystic Fibrosis affects around 11,000 people in the UK, and the trust sponsors research into causes and treatments, as well as supporting those affected.
The ride is scheduled to start on August 29th, and everyone at I-BIT will be keeping our fingers crossed for the Worldpay team. Good luck!
